AMC Theaters are Re-opening. The theater chain announced via Twitter that they will begin to resume theater operations starting on July 15th. AMC said that they will be implementing a comprehensive health and sanitation program called AMC Safe & Clean.
The Safe & Clean policy includes reduced auditorium capacity for theaters. The capacity will be reduced to 30% or less based on guidelines from the area the theater is in. AMC noted that in auditoriums with traditional seating, every other row will be blocked off and in theaters with AMC signature recliners, to leave an empty seat between you and other guests.
AMC will also be implementing Enhanced Cleaning Procedures in common areas and high touch points. These spots will be routinely disinfected throughout the day. The theater chain will also have extra time between movies so that the theaters can be cleaned. Also, theaters will have a simplified menu to ensure shorter lines and quicker service with no refils for large popcorn and soda refills.
For AMC theaters re-opening plan, workers will have their temperature read before starting and anyone who has a fever or symptoms is required to self-quarantine until symptom free for at least 72 hours. They will be required to wash their hands routinely for at least 20 seconds.
Guests are asked to have consisten handwashing and to avoid touching their faces, utilize sanitizing stations throughout the theater, cash will not be accepted. Originally masks were not going to be required for patrons of the theaters but AMC released a follow up tweet indicating that they will require quests to wear masks as they enter and enjoy movies at the theaters:
