Atari VCS Console Release Date and Pre-Order Information

Atari VCS Console

The Atari VCS is an upcoming console which is being dubbed as a PC/Console hybrid.  This will be the first Atari console to hit the market since the Atari Jaguar CD which was released in 1995.

The system is being described as an icon re-imagined, as it takes many styling cues from the Atari 2600 as you can see below.

The description on the website states that Atari returns to the living room with the Atari VCS – a completely modern gaming and video computer system, blending the best of consoles and PCs to delight a whole new generation of gamers and creators.

The original release date was targeting March of 2020, but the Atari VCS console missed that window.  The console does have a new release window for both the indiegogo funders as well as available at retail stores.  The console will be released this fall.  The console will be available from many locations for pre-order.  The system will be black with slits across it reminiscent of the 2600 and will come in three colorways for the front, Onyx, Black Walnut and Carbon Gold.  The bundle for the System, classic controller and modern controller will run you 390 dollars.

The technical specs of the Atari VCS 800 are an AMD Raven Ridge 2 processor with Ryzen graphics, 32GB eMMC internal with unlimited external storage via USB, 8GB DDR4 Ram which is upgradable, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0.  Atari will also have a cheaper console the Atari VCS 400 which has the same specs except for the ram which is 4GB and only 1080p streaming video.

The Black Walnut is available for pre-order from Atari, you can snag that by clicking here.

The Onyx version is available for pre-order from GameStop, you can get that by clicking here.

The Carbon Gold is available for pre-order from Walmart, you can get that version by clicking here.
