Linus Stepping Down As Linus Tech Tips CEO

YouTube personality Linus Sebastian, probably most widely known as the host for the Linus Tech Tips YouTube channel has announced that he is stepping down as CEO of Linus Media Group.  Linus Media Group does also run companies Creator Warehouse and Floatplane Media.

Yesterday, on the Linus Tech Tips channel which has 15.4 million subscribers to date, Linus posted a video saying he was stepping down.  This will be effective on July 1st of this year, and comes after 10 years of running the company which he founded.  During a segment in the video called The Why, Linus said he was never built for being a CEO and that he is very tired, “really can’t do this anymore tired”, and if he had to drag through another 10 years of business administration he would likely end up killing the company and community he loves so much.

Don’t fear, Linus while stepping down from running things will still be on board.  His new title is Chief Vision Officer, which he admits sounds like a bs made up role.  Linus will still be on camera just as much if not more since now he will have more time to do what he loves which is make content and interact with the community.  Linus goes on to mention that while there will be a new CEO who has already been working there on a contract status, him and Yvonne still own 100% of the company.  Candidly, he mentioned that there was an offer for $100 million to buy out the company but Linus and Yvonne turned that down.

The new CEO is Terren Tong, who was previously Linus’ boss at NCIX and previously worked at Corsair and Dell.  He will be the one to lead the ship into new investments, products and more.  You can check out the video by Linus here:
