Nvidia reveals the upcoming 3080 Ti

Nvidia has unveiled their latest GPUs as part of their keynote at Computex 2021 in Taipei, which like all other graphics cards, you will not be able to buy on release.  Nvidia reveals the upcoming 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti to fill out their line of graphics cards.  Their lineup now includes the RTX 3060 for $329, the RTX 3060 Ti for $399, the RTX 3070 for $499, the new RTX 3070 Ti for $599, the RTX 3080 for $699, the new RTX 3080 Ti for $1,299 and finally the RTX 3090 for $1,499.  There are still some holes in the lineup such as a card between the 3080 and 3080 Ti, can someone say 3080 Super at $899?

The RTX 3080 Ti is being called the new flagship GPU by Nvidia and the specs of this new card come very close to the top of the line RTX 3090.  Some specs are the number of CUDA cores with the 3080 Ti having 10,240 (the vanilla 3080 rocks 8,704 and the 3090 rocks 10,496) and memory bandwidth of the 3080 TI is 912 GB/s (the vanilla 3080 comes in at 760 GB/s and the 3090 at 936 GB/s).  The biggest difference between these two cards are the memory.  The 3080 Ti takes a step above the 3080 with 12GB vs 10GB but is half of the 3090’s 24GB of GDDR6X.

The RTX 3070 Ti is definitely at a more palatable price for the majority of gamers but it also does not drastically close the gap between the 3070 and 3080.  The CUDA cores on the new RTX 3070 Ti comes in at 6,144 (the original 3070 has 5,888 and the stock 3080 at 8,704), the card has the same amount of memory as the vanilla 3070 (8GB GDDR6) but it has been upped to GDDR6X and a memory bandwidth of 608 GB/s (the 3070 has 448 GB/s and the 3070 760 GB/s).

The cards will be launch on June 3rd for the RTX 3080 Ti and June 10th for the RTX 3070 Ti.  If you are in the market for these cards, we wish you good luck in getting one for your system!
