This Week In Destiny (TWID) Recap September 14

Since Bungie changed over from the TWAB to the TWID the updates have been less than exciting.  This week though, we are getting some important details about the future of some precious materials in Destiny.  Everyone’s favorite inventory item, Legendary Shards, are going away based on the This Week in Destiny Recap on September 14.

Destiny Recap September 14

Legendary Shards are “Remnants of powerful items.  Used to improve gear or trade for other items.”  They are obtained when you dismantle legendary and exotic items.  Currently i have about 15,000 of these little purple things hanging out in my inventory.  According to Bungie, they have found it hard to find the right valuation for Legendary Shards to make them feel impactful to the players and also ensuring that the content requiring them could be enjoyed by all players.  They have decided to remove the currency from the game.  Bungie says that it has been their goal to reduce the bloat of currencies, consumables and items across the game.

In Season 23, the season of ….. Legendary Shards will start to be a thing of the past.  The shards will be removed from the cost of Monument to Lost Lights first to help new and returning players unlock weapons they may have missed more easily.  Second, shards will be removed from ritual gear focusing.  Starting in Season 23, non-Adept focusing will cost only ritual engrams and Glimmer.  Bungie provided a new cost breakdown:

  • New Ritual Weapons

Continuing on with the This week in Destiny recap for September 14, the master difficulty version of the raid will be arriving on September 19th along with the first weekly challenge.  The challenge will rotate every week and you must complete a hidden objective each time to earn a second reward when you finish that encounter.  Stay tuned to our site as we do put out the information every Tuesday on the Bungie Weekly Reset.  Master difficulty will offer a different reward as well.  Each week, the armor drops you get will have a particular stat focus.  If you also complete the weekly challenge on Master you will get an Adept weapon with two perks on each column.

This Week In Destiny Recap September 14 PVP Updates

A new Iron Banner mode will be going live in Season 23.  It is a Supremacy Based mode.  In Iron Banner, you will be able to deposit Crests at tribute stations to earn points for your team.  Banking a lot of Crests at once triggers a Hunt phase that activates a special tribute station and increases the value of all Crests deposited for one minute.  Also, the Citadel map from the Dreaming City is making a return.  They are also adding Strand related Crucible Medals in Season 23.

The Checkmate modifier will be heading to Crucible Labs for the next six weeks beginning on Tuesday.  With the Checkmate modifier, you get a bump in health to up the time to kill.  You initially will spawn with no special ammo and this would be acquired by generating points from kills, assists, deaths, zone captures and gathering heavy ammo.  Any gathered, will stay with you through lives and rounds.  You do not drop your special ammo on death.
