We recently report that Karl Urban is in talks to be cast as Johnny Cage in the upcoming sequel to the 2021 hit reboot Mortal Kombat. You can check that out by clicking here. It looks like we know that Jade will be in the sequel and that the actress playing Jade will be Tati Gabrielle.
Jade is a childhood friend of Princess Kitana, who serves as both bodyguard to Kitana and as a spy to Shao Khan. The character made her debut in Mortal Kombat II as a secret character and became a playable character in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. The report about her casting comes from the Hollywood Reporter. The article states that it is expected that some of the cast of the first movie will return as well and explicitly mentions Jessica McNamee who played Sonya Blade and Josh Lawson who played Kano.
This will not be the first video game adaptation that Tati Gabrielle would be featured in. She was in the 2022 film Uncharted with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, where she played Jo Braddock. She also joined the cast of the show You starting with season 3, where she plays the character of Marienne Bellemy.
The new Mortal Kombat movie does not have a title or release date as of yet, but I anticipate that as the actors are signed on we will get more details of the movie.
