Friday the 13th The Game was released on October 13, 2017. Available initially for PS4 and Xbox One with a Nintendo Switch version coming in 2019. The game was published by Gun Interactive and developed by Illfonic. It is an asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror game. Today Gun announced that their license for the game will expire on December 31st of this year. Once that date arrives, the game will no longer be available for sale (both digitally and physically). I must admit that I would possibly want to get a physically media copy to keep for remembrance.
Let me start off with I did not initially purchase Friday the 13th the Game for PS4 as the others in my video game group did. Eventually, I did purchase the game and join them in playing one of the most frustrating things ever. The game hardly worked when we first started playing, when it worked it was fun but it was getting it to work consistently when we wanted to play caused an issue.
In their statement Gun did say that they have made the decision to reduce the price of the base game to 5 bucks and each DLC will be 1 dollar until it is removed from storefronts and shelves on December 31st. The game will continue to be playable until at least December 31, 2024.

The issues with the game began back in 2018 when they announced there would be no new content for the game due to a rights issue. In November of 2020, the dedicated servers were changed back to peer-to-peer matchmaking. The end of the game has been in the cards for a while and now it is official.
