This Week In Destiny (TWID) Recap September 21

Welcome back Guardians to a TWAB I mean TWID recap for September 21.  There is a lot to go through this week and a lot that has been happening in the world of Destiny.  Let’s start off with some forward looking stuff heading towards The Final Shape.  With the new expansion, we are getting three new light subclass Supers and Aspects that will empower Guardians for their upcoming battle against big bad the Witness.  Destiny released promo videos of the new supers and how they will play in both PvE and PvP game modes.  Let’s take a peek!

Hunters (Arc) – Storm’s Edge

With their new super, Hunters can hurl and Arc dagger that teleports the Hunter forward, where they perform a deadly whirlwind strike as they materialize for massive damage.  This can be executed three times per Super charge, allowing the Hunter to traverse vast distance and devastate enemies in their wake.  The new Hunter Aspect will be Ascension.  While airborne, Hunters can consume their class ability and propel themselves upwards to damage and jolt nearby enemies, while also amplifying their fireteam.

Titan (Void) – Twilight Arsenal

Titans will throw three Void axes that pull enemies in and explode, dealing heavy damage and weakening anything left standing.  Thrown axes can be picked up and wielded by the Titan and their fireteam as melee weapons.  The Titan aspect is Unbreakable.  Titans consume a grenade to create a shield that blocks incoming damage and absorbs attacks which then can be released to deal massive damage.

Warlock (Solar) – Song of Flame

Warlocks become radiant, overcharge their melee ability, and their grenade becomes a sentient Spirit of Flame that seeks out nearby enemies and explodes.  Allies gain increased ability regeneration and damage resistance, with scorch applied to their Solar and Kinetic weapons.  The Warlocks aspect is Hellion.  Warlocks can activate their class ability to summon a Solar Soul that launches flaming mortars at distant foes, setting them ablaze.

I have to say that these new supers do look pretty cool and cant wait for The Final Shape to drop!

The Craftening

Well where do we begin.  One I am sorry I missed out on crafting a bomb ass weapon and obliterating a boss in seconds for fun.  For those who missed this, this weekend people were able to Frankenstein together an unholy weapon with insane traits.  According to Bungie, a previous bug allowed stale data from other crafting recipes to bleed over which allowed players to move traits from one recipe to another.  The bug was in the code in the game so it was not an easy fix for the team over at Bungie.  The first piece that Bungie did to fix the issue was to disable perks from being active on crafted or enhanced weapons.  This caused some grief for players who have a majority of their weapons if not all as crafted weapons.  The second step was to stop the exploit in the code.  There will be a fix implemented that will target the crafting issue.  So while people had fun while it lasted, it looks like the craftening was a short term thing for players!  Were you able to craft a weapon during this?  Let us know!

Deterministic Recoil

Continuing on with our TWID recap for September 21.  Starting with Season 22, the weapons with a S22 or later watermark will have what Bungie calls deterministic recoil.  Basically with this, the noted weapon types will recoil in a predictable way with sustained fire that will allow player to learn the patters and compensate for them.  Learning the pattern, Bungie says will allow you to truly master the weapon.  The weapon types this will apply to is:

  • Auto Rifle
  • Pulse Rifle
  • Scout Rifle
  • Submachine Gun
  • Sidearm
  • Hand Cannon
  • Trace Rifle
  • Machine Gun

      • General
        • Fixed an issue with The Bulbul Tarang emblem, in which it didn’t appear in-game and couldn’t be equipped.
