Tron Ares Casts Greta Lee

We reported a couple of weeks ago about Jodie Turner-Smith and Evan Peters being cast in Tron Ares, you can check that out by clicking here.  Today, The Hollywood Reporter is announcing additional Tron Ares casting news with Greta Lee joining the cast.

The role is being described as a leading role in the film of a video game programmer and tech company CEO who has to go on the run to protect her world-changing technology.  Greta Lee comes from Past Lives, Russian Doll, The Morning Show and the voice of Lyla in both Spider-Verse films.

The prior movies Tron and Tron Legacy mainly took place in the grid, with Olivia Wilde’s Quorra joining the real world with Sam Flynn at the end.  In the latest film, Ares (Leto) is a sentient program that crosses over into the human world but is not ready for contact.  The film is being produced by Emma Ludbrook, Justin Springer, Jeffrey Silver and Jared Leto.  The film is being directed by Joachim Rønning based on a script written by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne.

The original Tron was released in 1982 and has a vast cult following.  Tron: Legacy was released in 2010 and in my opinion does not get the credit it is due and is a pretty damn good film.  What do you think about the Tron Ares casting news of Greta Lee?  Are you excited for the new film?  Do you think that if the film is being taken to the real world, Sam and Quorra should be back? Is it a tron movie if Bruce Boxleitner is not in it?  Let us know in the comments below or hit us up on our Twitter account by clicking here.  As always stay tuned to Culture Splat for more content coming your way!
