WWE World Heavyweight Championship Finals Set

Last night on SmackDown we got part two of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament.  There were three matches to determine who would be facing Seth Rollins, who became a finalist on Monday Night Raw.  You can check the details about that by clicking here.  With the conclusion of SmackDown, we now have the World Heavyweight Championship Finals all set for May 27th in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at Night of Champions.  Let’s break it down (anyone else get DX vibes when they say that?).

AJ Styles vs. Edge vs. Rey Mysterio

The first match of the night was our first triple threat match and this was a pretty damn good match!  I mean you have AJ Styles, who is well…. Phenomenal along with Edge and Rey who is always something to watch.  You got to see it all in this one, you saw a spear, a 619, Phenomenal Forearm and a sick combo like this:

After all was said and done, Rey hit a 619 in the corner and went to the top but Edge counters and AJ hits the forearm and gets the pin.  Great show put on by these guys, but AJ advances into the semi’s.

Austin Theory vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Sheamus

This was the match that I was unsure of going into it.  My picks were either Theory or Sheamus but I was wrong.  This match was not as entertaining as the first one, but hell it was that bad at all.  The ending of the match, we had Theory go for an A-Town Down on Bob but he blocks it, he hits a massive one arm chokeslam on Theory.  He gets him up and puts him in the Hurt Lock and Theory keeps trying to kick off the ropes to break the hold.  While in the Hurt Lock, Sheamus hits a Brogue Kick on Theory and Bob tosses him outside for the 1, 2, 3.  Moving on to the semi’s is Bobby Lashley.

AJ Styles vs. Bobby Lashley

Our semi-finals are set the main event of the night is here.  Lashley was bleeding in the last match and still had some blood flowing in this one.  AJ immediately went to the forehead to attack the wound.  As the match goes on, the wound on his head is bleed more.  Bob gets AJ into the Hurt Lock but Styles makes his way out to the apron to force the break on the hold.  Bob tries for a Hurt Lock but AJ blocks it.  Bob then pounds on AJ and gets him set for the spear.  AJ moves and Bobby goes right into the post.  Styles has him right where he wants him, Phenomenal Forearm and the pin 1,2,3.  Your winner and advancing to the World Heavyweight Championship Finals is AJ Styles.

What did you all think of the tournament to determine the World Heavyweight Championship Finals?  Should it have been more than 1 episode of Raw and 1 episode of SmackDown or did you like the old school King of the Ring feel of it?  I must say, that I thought WWE did a pretty damn good job with it and I am hyped up for the finals at Night of Champions.  I am still holding my prediction that Seth Rollins will be the victor and inaugural WWE World Heavyweight Champion, bringing the belt to Raw like the intentions were.  But we should have a damn good match between AJ and Seth.  What do you think?  Let us know down in the comments below or hit us up on our Twitter account by clicking here.  As always stay tuned to Culture Splat for more content coming at you!
